In discussing the challenges facing the local community, the chairman of the commune in Lào Cai shared with the GVI team about the difficulty in building cement floors for residents’ homes. This work is essential to help families create safe and clean living environments that promote the health and hygiene of local families. The presence of cement floors is especially crucial during the rainy and stormy seasons, as solid flooring helps families avoid dampness to protect their health.
Over the past 2 years, GVI has supported 7 students’ families by helping them build cement floors in their homes. Through GVI’s support, households have not only improved their living conditions, but also feel more secure in the face of harsh weather, such as that seen in recent months with Typhoon Yagi.
This assistance has been highly appreciated by local leaders, as it not only enhances the quality of life for residents but also contributes to the sustainable development of the community. Giang Seo Mang, the Chairman of Thai Giang Pho Commune, has praised the impact of the program, stating that, “The concrete flooring project by GVI has brought practical benefits to the residents of Thải Giàng Phố Commune, helping improve the living environment of households, reducing dust, dampness, and preventing the intrusion of insects. This is a highly meaningful program, contributing to improving living conditions and the quality of life for families in difficult circumstances.”
All of the families impacted have also expressed deep gratitude to GVI and hope for continued support in the future. The positive changes they are experiencing are a testament to GVI’s commitment and efforts to build a better life for highland communities.
“Previously, the foundation of our home was just dirt, making it muddy whenever the rainy season arrived. The support from GVI has provided a more stable and secure space for our family. Having a solid foundation makes us feel safer, especially during the rainy season. GVI’s assistance will not only improve the living conditions for our family but also serve as encouragement for us to overcome challenges in our daily lives. Thanks to GVI and the generous sponsors.” Sung Seo Su – Bac Ha, Lao Cai, Vietnam
