Five team members from Texas, USA, came to Vietnam March 7th - 15th. This is the first trip for Timber Ridge so there were many new things for them. Different country and different culture, however, the team quickly grew to know Vietnam and felt like they were at home.
“I loved the trip! It was so different from the USA, but I felt right at home! I really enjoyed working with the children at the school, trying to teach them some English. I could not have done it without Thao! I want to thank everyone for making our trip such a good memory! I hope to come back again soon!” – said Judy Peterson from Timber Ridge. Timber Ridge spent time at San Sa Ho Middle School in Sapa District, Lao Cai.The team divided into 2 groups: one team teaching English to students and making crafts; and the other making a concrete slab foundation for their new cafeteria.
The students were very excited when the team came. There are 90 students boarding at school. Those students, combined with the 60 day students totaled a 150 students who came together to help Timber Ridge in the afternoon. After all of the hard work the students taught the team how to play traditional games such as bow and arrow and stick pushing. It was a great chance for the team to experience a different culture in a different country.
This trip will be the first brick in the relationship between Timber Ridge and San Sa Ho Middle School!
