In Vietnam, Special Education training system and teaching methods still have a lot of challenges, especially for the students. Some of them don’t even know what they will do after they graduate. The SET conference is one of the keys to answering this question. The training provides tools for teachers which they need to mainstream kids with special needs into the public education system. Not only teachers and students from HUE, but also parents who have children with special need attend the training course.
100 participants joined the conference this year. Many of them took part in the conference from the very beginning. One of the participants, who has her own kindergarten in Hanoi, said that she applied the new teaching methods which she learnt from the conference into her school and she received lots of positive feedback from parents. The childrenare not shy in the classroomand now they have become more active and creative.
For the students from HUE, they seemed to be understanding more about special education. They really liked the conference. They said they learned new things that they could apply into their study at university. The conference gave them more ideas and they could understand special education in a deeper way.
Another part of the team trip was in Bac Ha. The team held a 2 day conference for more than 100 teachers from all over Bac Ha, Lao Cai. All the teachers spent 2 days of their only vacation for the year to attend the conference. They were so excited for the chance to upgrade their knowledge and to gain more experience. The more knowledge and experience they received, the more passion they had for their job and their students. They say they would never miss the chance to attend the conference and that gave great encouragement to Special Education team.
What ever happens on your way, wherever you go, just sing your song and “Enjoy the journey”!
