Norfolk Highschoolers Build Dorm in SapaJune 24, 2011
The highschool students from Norfolk Christian High School (NCHS) Norfolk, VA came to Vietnam for two weeks in June. During this time they were able to build a dorm for students in Sapa. The dorm was built because many students live miles from their school and this enables them to spend the night during the school week rather than having to walk far distances daily. After the NCHS completed their task they returned to Hanoi and spent quality time with kids from the local orphanage at SS3. This was a meaningful experience for both the students of Norfolk and the people in Vietnam.
The NCHS students had a lot to say about what they learned from their experience. The students all came to the conclusion that they have taken much for granted. Many students stated that this trip has allowed them to realize how much God has truly blessed their lives. The students were able to learn much about themselves as well as their individual relationships with God.
Their most memorable experiences were hanging out with the kids and seeing their happiness. They enjoyed getting to know each other on a much more serious, spiritual level. Coming to Vietnam, allowed the students to develop a deeper understanding for different cultures, as well as allowing them to have a greater understanding and sense of the beauty of God's creation.
