March 4, 2009Business leaders from Northwood Church will launch GVI’s first business domain engagement in May. The volunteers will speak on the topic of Corporate Social Responsibility at a business conference co-sponsored by the Hanoi Young Business Association (HYBA). | The engagement encapsulates GVI’s strategy of people-to-people engagement. A Northwood volunteer met the president of the HYBA a few years ago, and they struck up an immediate friendship. Several discussions followed, culminating in a group of Northwood business leaders who were interested in using their knowledge and experience to help their counterparts in Vietnam. | The business team includes leaders from the financial sector, the oil and petroleum industry, electronic security, human resource management, and other sectors as well. | The conference will take place May 21-31 at the International Conference Centre in Hanoi, Vietnam. Registration is open to members of the HYBA. Vietnam joined the World Trade Organization in 2006. The conference will address a growing concern in business community of Vietnam, that of catching up with and competing against other countries in the region that has long-adopted market principles.
