Whoa! Where Did That Come From?

Posted on December 23rd, 2009.
The aspen tree is popular in Colorado.  It’s a beautiful tree, green in the summer, yellow in the fall.  And with its white bark it provides beautiful contrast with all the evergreens in the mountains.  In addition to its beauty, the tree is also a part of a family.  When you see a clump of aspens you can almost be certain they are the same organism–one parent tree with several off-shoots.
I have aspens in my yard and I often see another off shoot sprouting from the ground.  ”Whoa, where did that come from?”  Well, it came from something that started a long time ago.  This is just another result of the life that started way back when.
When I look at my relationships in Vietnam I’m blessed to say it’s been much the same.
One relationship is birthed.  And then another…and another.
At first it was one and soon there was a whole clump of them.
I first met a young man that worked in a hotel who introduced me to a village leader who introduced me to a District Leader who introduced me to a plumber who introduced me to the hardware store lady.  Relationships everywhere.
And then I met a man in Texas who introduced me to a government worker that introduced me to his assistant who introduced me to his family and somehow I reconnected with them in Colorado the other day.  Amazing.
And not only that…the Vietnam experience has also connected me to people here.  The lady that owns the Subway is from Vietnam.  She found out we go there so she became an instant friend and she connected me to her niece and her niece introduced me to her aunt and more relationships were established.
I guess you get the picture.  Vietnam has grown for me a forest of friends all of whom I am so grateful are part of my life.
Thanks again Vietnam!  Your people have filled up my heart!
